Joint workshop to strengthen research cooperation through the exchange of
current applications of 3D printing technology in the biofield.
The workshop covered ongoing joint research projects, including the
“Micro Needle” project, and discussed potential future joint research topics.
On July 17, 2024, Professors Lee Ji-hwan and Lee Hyo-won from the Center for Implantable Devices (CID) at Purdue University in the US visited the Siheung at KITECH KAMIC to participate in a technology exchange seminar on the application of 3D printing in the biofield. The event was also graced by the presence of Professor Yoo Byung-hoon from the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Inha University, who is researching bio diagnostic chip manufacturing process.✨
Participating Organizations and Individuals in the Seminar
- Korea Institute of Industrial Technology (KITECH) Korea Additive Manufacturing Innovation Center:
- Senior Researcher: Ha Cheol-woo
- Researchers: Lee Ji-seon, Choi Jae-won (Postdoc), Lee Ji-eun (Postdoc)
- Student Researchers: Shin Ah-yeon, Lee Seong-woo, Lee Jun-won
- Purdue University Center for Implantable Devices:
- Professor Lee Chi-hwan
- Professor Lee Hyo-won
- Inha University Department of Mechanical Engineering:
- Professor Yoo Byung-hoon
Through this Korea-US technology exchange seminar, it was reaffirmed that both countries share many of the same challenges in increasing the utilization rate of 3D printing in the biofield. This realization underscored the necessity for mutual support in terms of both material and human resources needed for R&D. After the seminar, there was a tour of the factory building, showcasing the 3D printing facilities that are the pride of us KAMIC.
Following the exchange of 3D printing technology between Korea and the United States in the defense sector, the two countries are now accelerating their cooperation in the biofield. Stay tuned to see the exciting developments in the domestic 3D printing industry with KAMIC.👍
