Australian Joint Logistics Command Delegation Visits KAMIC to Explore Expanded Korea-Australia Defense Supply Chain Cooperation
Exploring advanced AM capabilities to open new opportunities for collaboration in defense and manufacturing
On November 19, 2024, a delegation from the Australian Defense Forces visited the Siheung 3D Printing Manufacturing Innovation Center (KAMIC) under the Korea Institute of Industrial Technology. The delegation included Major General Jason Walk, Commander of the Joint Logistics Command; Colonel Christina Ween, Director of International Logistics at the Joint Logistics Command; and Lieutenant Ella Ryan, Aide-de-Camp to the Commander. Representing Korea was Officer Jooik Lee, Director of International Logistics Cooperation at the Ministry of National Defense.
This visit aligns with the outcomes of the recent Korea-Australia Summit held in Laos, where President Yoon Suk-yeol and Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese emphasized strengthening cooperation in defense, defense industries, supply chains, and economic security.
The Australian delegation reviewed KAMIC’s advanced 3D printing capabilities and discussed expanding collaboration in the defense supply chain sector. This visit reaffirmed the potential for leveraging cutting-edge manufacturing technologies to strengthen bilateral ties in defense and security.
