A New Leap for 3D Printing at Sea!
ABS visits to discuss certification for ship components manufactured by AM Solutions using DED technology
Recently, KITECH KAMIC had the honor of hosting distinguished guests from ABS and AM Solutions. The visit was attended by Mr. Wenjin Wu, Mr. Tae-Dong Park, and Mr. Sung-Jin Hwang from ABS, along with Mr. Seung-Min Jo and Mr. Gi-Tae Bae from AM Solutions.
At the KITECH KAMIC, our Dr. Lee Hyub, an expert in DED processes, and Dr. Eo Durim, a specialist in metal materials, led discussions on cooperative strategies to ensure that domestic AM applications in the shipbuilding and offshore industry progress swiftly and seamlessly. Our center is dedicated to providing both technical and administrative support to innovative SMEs, helping them overcome the challenges of technology commercialization.
In particular, AM Solutions has successfully produced ship components using DED technology and is on the cusp of commercialization, although they are currently facing challenges in obtaining certification to validate the eligibility of their components. To address this, KITECH KAMIC is connecting ABS with AM Solutions to support the certification process, thereby enhancing the reliability and market competitiveness of the products.
Furthermore, in addition to maritime certification, we have identified promising research opportunities for AM component certification based on a collaborative foundation between ABS and KITECH KAMIC. Through these initiatives, we expect both parties to secure the reliability of AM components in the defense and maritime sectors and to drive new technological innovations.
We are optimistic that this meeting will further strengthen the close cooperation and information exchange between our organizations, ultimately laying the foundation for significant advancements in AM technology within the maritime and defense industries. 🙌🌊
