To fully leverage AM as a core manufacturing technology in advanced sectors,
developing a DX platform that upgrades the traditional manufacturing industry is essential
On December 9, 2024, from 4 PM to 8 PM, the Geranium Hall at Samjung Hotel in Gangnam, Seoul, hosted a technology exchange meeting highlighting the achievements of the 3D Printing Digital Transformation (DX) Platform Development Project. Senior Researcher Yeonseo Hong from the Trade Security Management Institute delivered a keynote presentation titled “U.S. Advanced Technology Controls and Their Impact on the Additive Manufacturing Industry.” The talk provided an in-depth analysis of U.S. advanced technology export and import control policies, focusing on 3D printing-related regulations. It also covered the potential implications of 3D printing technology on international trade and security, along with detailed regulatory mechanisms.
Presentations by Dr. Yong Son, Director of the 3D Printing Center, KITECH:
- Current achievements and detailed findings on additive process data collection
- Key issues and future plans for the development of the 3D Printing DX Platform
- Feedback on platform improvements gathered from participating companies
The meeting brought together over 40 industry, academic, and research experts, serving as a platform for a comprehensive review of the project’s third-year outcomes and discussions on the future direction for pilot implementation.
TThe event concluded with networking and a dinner, fostering meaningful exchanges on advancing 3D printing digital transformation.
TThrough the digitalization of manufacturing facilities, including 3D printing, Korea’s manufacturing industry is poised to evolve into a high-value-added industrial ecosystem 🚀
